May 2006

So I had very VERY odd dreams last night, and the last one ended with the female protagonist putting her thumbs into the eyesockets of some latino guy, a la 28 Days Later, so I was already in a strange mood when I got up today.

But at work today my coworker discovered an unauthorized transaction on a credit card of his, which happened just yesterday. The New York company the charge came from claimed it was for an order for a copy of OS X Tiger. Eventually he found out via UPS that the order was being shipped to some fellow in California, and fortunately the fellow has a minor online presence and the phone number was available.

Another phone call later, we discovered that the fellow purchased the OS X from someone on EBay, for CASH, which he mailed directly to the guy’s apartment in FLORIDA.

So my coworker was fleeced by some fuck in Florida, to send software from New York to a goddamn Mac user for the Civil Liberites Institute in Berkeley. He’s canceled that credit card, and now he’s thinking aloud about whether he’d rather call the FBI or head down to Florida this weekend.

Jesus.

That new mario game? It’s really good. And pretty. It’s not quite as cute as Yoshi Story, but until they can invent a baby sea lion that shoots rainbows from its eyes, nothing will be.

But yeah, well played, Nintendo. Well played indeed.

Today I will:
- install some software at SEL
- write some more PHP code for this MySQL database thingy
- stop by EBGames and pick up the new Mario Bros. for DS
- take more practice GRE stuffs

So forgive me if I haven’t the time or energy to really pour forth the updates. So much other stuff has been going on, anyhow, and I really, really cannot get into it here.

So I’ve managed to play through every song but two on Expert Mode (I hate you, Ozzy). A week or two ago, they officially announced Guitar Hero 2 and the fact that it’ll have co-op modes where you have people playing different parts, like bass and lead or rhythm or back ups, etc. This week, with all the pre-E3 hooplah, they’ve announced a number of the songs that they’re going to have in GH2, one of which is “Psychobilly Freakout” by Reverend Horton Heat…

Just thinking about that song on Expert Mode makes my knuckles ache. I can’t wait, really.

1 – Guitar Hero in multiplayer mode is probably the best party game I’ve played since the original monkey ball.

2 – Some people, with regards to hold ‘em, latch onto the mottos “any two will do” and “you have to be in it to win it”, and, over time, these people will give you all of their playing money.

3 – Shadow of the Colossus needs a bit more gradual difficulty incline than it currently has. After the first one, the next fourteen are about equal, and the 16th is quite impossible, comparitively.
