I should be:
- working on a mySQL database for the Communications department
- working on another databse for Inventory
- contacting the Map Room to ask about ArcGIS requirements
- making a list of software for the BPL computers

But alas, I am instead:
- staring at the rain
- listening to the thunder
- browsing about 400 messageboards

So I’m using Friday afternoons to study my A+ cert materials. The instructor, the one who made the poor heart analogy a few weeks back, keeps saying “ekcetera” instead of “etcetera”.

Maybe I’m looking for a fight, but this shit is driving me insane today.

Addendum: He just did it again! He said the leads on the back of a motherboard were the “heart” of the motherboard, in that they connect all the parts of the board… Maybe he has a true misunderstanding of what the essential parts/purposes of the nervous and cardiovascular systems are.

DS Lite Impressions: Lighter, smaller, brighter. The new stylus is easier to use than its tiny predecessor. I immediately fear that the matte white insides are going to get very dirty, a condition I wouldn’t notice as readily on my old navy blue DS. The lack of the glossier protective coating on the windows reduces glare considerably. I haven’t played anything extensively enough yet to find out if there are hand position fatigue issues. The X button on my unit might be slightly malformed, I was pretty tired when I noticed it.

I’m pretty tired now, come to think of it. I’d leave, but I have a bullshit meeting this afternoon. Maybe I’ll work through some more GRE crap, who knows/

Man, is collaboration ever a buzz word around here, lately. Librarians are blubbering on about virtual spaces, wikis, and all sorts of 2002 crap. Last year, I heard the phrase “teaching and learning” about 14 times in any individual meeting I attended. This year, it’s “collaboration”.

For my part, I think collaboration is crazy fucking cool, but this is decidedly colored by the fact that I like game theory and the Idea that We’re All In This Together. Even the lone poet, standing on the precipice of dawn, on the icy line, staring into the distance all maudlin and oh-so-alone, even he is writing for somebody, is influenced by all he’s read, seen and heard.

We’re all striving, in our own ways, toward something. The betterment of society, the advancement of literature, the unification of the Forces of Nature…

Just, you know, don’t touch my save game in nSMB. I’m gathering these star coins by myself, fuckers; take your collaborating asses elsewhere.
